时间是2003年海湾战争前夕，离婚并育有两女的阿迪里奥是一位乐天诗人，也是罗马一所大学里的文学系教授。新一轮美伊战争如箭在弦，但这位与世无争的文人天天躲在象牙塔内，只与至爱的诗人们打交道，对大小事情不闻不问，唯有他的梦中情人维多莉亚把他神魂颠倒。
